The wood for this pen is from savaged teak, from the wreak of the SS Pegu. It was torpedoed by a German U-boat (U57) during WWI on 8th July 1917 while on its way to Liverpool from Rangoon. Sadly, one life was lost, Robert Maxwell, a 22 year old 4th engineer officer was killed.
The smell, when turning this wood has yet to be decided, all I know it stinks. The marks on the one edge is from the gribble on the original plank.
