Why are they classed as Black, they look like Gun metal?

Is the Black Titanium a similar colour to a Gunmetal?

Sorry Paul, I meant to reply to your comment a couple of days ago, but I got a bit distracted.

They are both greyish in colour, yes. I'm not sure why the titanium is called black titanium, given that it isn't black, but none the less comparing it with gunmetal is a bit like comparing EPNS cutlery with the good stuff.

The black ti has much more depth to it, it's a lighter shade, and when you see the two side by side, its instantly obvious that the black ti is a more sophisticated plating, not least of all because it's much more reflective and has an almost silvery quality to the grey. I suppose you could just say it has much more character to it than gunmetal. It's more or less bomb proof too, so it will pretty much last a life time in normal use.

It is to gunmetal what rhodium is to chrome and when you compare the two side by side, as I say, the difference is obvious.
