I've turned segmented pens before, but was intrigued how @alan morrison achieved such high standards of blank making. So having watched several video's on the tube, this is my first attempt at one of the techniques. I've used Ash with yellow & blue veneer to form the blank and paired it with a Sierra BP with stylus, Black & Gold fittings. Overall, I'm pleased how it looks. Thank you Alan for the inspiration.

Gary...that is a brilliant first step into segmenting!!!
Segmenting is a great way to elevate a fairly bland piece of timber into something special, made more special because of your designs.
Keep at it.
Thank you Alan, I’ve realised very quickly, how cutting accuracy is key & like yourself, use a table saw for flatness. 👍🏼😎✍🏼

The problem with the table saw when cutting small triangles is that it chews one of the edges. I adapted a jig that i saw on youtube for the bandsaw. I have been trying to adapt it for the scrollsaw without much success, but still trying. Here's a photograph. The jug is static and the material is pushed along the groove.IMG_1134.JPGIMG_1130.JPG
