Back from a sabattical dealing with rellies, funerals and the like......a bit like life i guess.
Anyhoo
I got some very soft, punky but beautiful Buckeye burl. Turning it was horrible until i just soaked the whole thing with super thin ca. From there i turned an acrylic section and cap and barrel thread carrying bit. I sealed inside cap and barrel with more CA, sanded the acrylic and wood to 600 grit and then used floor grade matt osmo to finish. The osmo seems on the face of it to be an odd choice. However, a floor grade finish should be hard wearing ! and takes on a pleasing satin sheen with use.. The refill is a uniball 1.0mm gel ink roller. It's got a lovely thick juicy line (for those that think pilot gel ink refills are just a little fine).
