at a celtic knot. not a complete fail, worth trying to repair it, do you think...or put it down to experience.

So something a little different because I saw something on hols in Devon and thought - surely I can make that! So here is my attempt - an oak tree, made from some oak I had in the workshop. Regards Padster

Mark James posted a photograph of a similar looking pen about 3 years ago on IAP forum which I was most impressed with and always wanted to attempt something like it. I've already told him that I would be copying his plan. This was also my first attempt at a Gluboost finish.

So this is my first attempt at casting my own blank. Alan Morrison kindly sent me a casting mould he hadn't used for free which spurred me on to give it a go. Unhappy with bought glitter blanks, I made my own and I'm very very pleased with the result.

Had to have a go at after seeing a pair. This is a real challenge as doing a Celtic I never cut all the way through on the bandsaw. But with this you have to, only way to produce it. My first attempt at a kitless pen that I turned last week from one of my own blanks, I’ve learnt quite a bit turning this & managed to make a couple of mandrels in the process.

Several years ago I did a bunch of pens with trim rings like these. I haven't taken the time to do one recently, so here is my latest attempt.
