I like to do a bit of drawing so I thought I'd turn a mechanical pencil. It is turned from lime, the centre part which I have coloured and I think the darker wood is African blackwood. The kit is from Prokraft and I left the clip off because I think the shape looks better without it.

I have been making a mess in the shed, I was asked to make these in various sizes for some one that is repairing their grandmothers dining room chairs (1920's), the originals are Tassie blackwood, the one's I made are good old pinus radiata, they are going to stain them to match.

Just finishes my first Beaufort Kit - Its a Mistral Ballpoint gold in African Blackwood finished in Melamine Gloss Lacquer burnished with Meguiars fine finishing compound.
Really lovely kit of nice quality - think I will try the fountain pen next. (Not sure why my images are coming in upside down?)
L-R we have Oak, Pippy Oak, Sweet Chestnut, 35,000 yr old Swamp Kauri, 2 x Olive, Medlar, English Walnut, Tasmanian Blackwood and African Blackwood.
The flame/ripple on the Tasmanian Blackwood is stunning.
