The pen is S. American Bloodwood segmented, separated from dyed Tassie Oak ends with rings cut from an old Persil container.
The blank is Pheasant Wood segmented with Box ends.
Do you think that the dividers in the blank would be a better in a different colour than green? The green is a lot...
This wasn't the easiest to do, and I found finishing it a challenge too it blocked really quickly, and you may notice the crack that was all the way through the blank - but I'm happy with the end piece.

This would of been a nice pen except for one thing, the pen is too small for the blank!!!
I thought I was making a Zeta and drilled a 9mm hole in the blank, the zeta bushes fitted perfectly in the tube.
When it came to assembly I could push the bits in with absolutely no resistance, I tried...
So this time I got two pens! Both Olivewood hybrid's and both Headwinds...
The first is the other half of the blank I blew out last weekend!

tried a corian segmented..glued up well, drilled it on my pillar drillar ( drill press )..trued it up, was dead square every way, but when id finished the hole was so far out end to end that the blank is un-usable..:sob:.gonna drill them on my lathe from now on...still, onwards and upwards
I was turning a Slimline pen earlier when something very peculiar happened.
One of the blanks suddenly looked dark as the lathe was spinning with the other looking very pale, I turned the lathe off and had a look at the blank and it looked like burr, except it felt like cork.
I carried on...
Are there any out there that folks can recommend? Nothing too pricey but I don’t want cheap either! I want something quick and easy. Blank will likely be some nice Yew if it makes a difference.
Hi All
I recently got hold of some of the blue/green (Poseidon) Mazzucchelli Ceboplast and made quite a few pens from it. This material is becoming increasingly scarce so its nice to have some again.
It has a couple of properties that are a little different compared to other plastics. First of...
Now then, I'm not saying I have, and I am not saying I have not done this before
Have you or how many times have you sanded a little bit too much from the end of the blank and tube?
If I had, and I am not saying I have, or have not done it, how far could I get away with.
Imagine for a moment...
During my recent sabbatical I drilled out 13 blanks ready for slimline and streamline pens.
I used the lathe to drill them and noticed a variation with the holes both in sizes and alignments, the differences only really became apparent when gluing in the tubes. I have ended up using gorilla glue...
its warm enough to venture into the shed..segmented slimline ( sort of ), made with a beaufort Ukraine blank...ill have a go at the other one tomorrow think ill make a center band for it
