    Chopping block

I was across in Snainton two weeks ago and picked up a couple of pieces of olive wood. The wife wanted a new chopping block so a bit of sanding and a couple of coats of food safe mineral oil and it’s finished. No fancy woodwork I’m afraid, the beauty is in the wood.

New Extra Deep Block / Slab Moulds

After a request for a slightly deeper block mould, we have just developed these two new moulds which are now available on our website www.PenBlankAndMoulds.co.uk in Addition/Platinum cure silicone. Obviously you can cast thinner slabs by filling to the required level.

    Time for a sort out

I have somewhere for most of my drill bits except for the metric ones, so i spent yesterday sorting out all my drill bits and making a wooden drill block for the metric ones. Nothing special in as far as woodworking goes but it is surprising how long it took to drill it out and sort all the...

    Sharpening jig blocks

I find it much easier to use jigs for sharpening so I made these blocks for some recent tools. The rectangular block is for my 10mm round skew, the large triangular block is for my 1/2" point tool and the smaller one for a 1/4" detail tool. M6 set screws hold the tools in place whilst sharpening.

    A visitor bearing gifts

Had a visit today from Smoker (Steve) who brought me a goody bag full of stuff to help me on my way with my casting journey. I don't think that I need to bother about making any new moulds for awhile now ....Steve dropped off seven....(see pic) ! But when I do I now have a nice big sheet of HDPE...

    Squaring off blanks

After some advice on here on squaring off blanks without using a barrel cutter, I bit the bullet and bought a cheap disc sander. Wow, what a difference. All my non standard blanks squared off in minutes, with nothing more than a V block, transfer punch and a scrap bit of acrylic. The acrylic...

    First Block Casting

Today I took delivery of my second lot of PE resin this time a 5 kg tub rather than the miserly 1 Kg tin that I ordered the other week. So seeing that I had decent quantity to play with I decided to put away the PVC piping and try my hand at block casting, I also though it time that I progressed...
