    Another first...

So I posted my first bowl - I think ok, and my second effort - somewhat flawed, well here is the third... This is not quite a plate or a bowl really, it's what I'd call a nick nacks tray... you walk in and dump keys and money from your pockets on it..... It has an unexpected resin centre....I...

Corian cutie with integral center band

Just wanted to take the plainness off a bit of corian on a slimline. So incorporated a piece of acrylic to the bottom section also this gets away from the wasp waist. On finishing it the wife nice ladies pen, think she's spot on. On a slimline the corian is not to heavy so my do a couple of more...

    Honest answers only!!

Well, I was asked to do an emblem pen as below. Scott Walker ( Mr Resin....Sawes) cast a few for me. Now my dilemma..... If I use a white blank for the bottom will it look wrong/ cheap/ tacky. I have used a piece of maple and TBH really like it. ( No wrong answers, just opinions)

Field Maple and measures 7 1/4" X 2" and has some light ripple in the bottom, sanded to 600grit and then wiped over with water and given a final sand of 600grit to de-nibed. Chestnut spirit stain applied with paint brushes and acrylic...

    .300 mags

Hi all as per the title these are the first of these...... Two .300mag Holland and Holland cases fitted with a twist mech and a Cross mini refill ( see I am learning). Another great learning curve with these..... don't use too much CA to bond the bottom tube.....it squeezed out and went...

    Draw bar

Instead of a wood disc and a nut I decided to make a Resin and Pinecone nut thingy for my draw bar. :-)) I recessed the bottom and epoxied a nut in place. Resin and Pinecone - YouTube

    Bowl facelift

I have been asked by my dear mum for a bowl she can give to a dear friend as a Christmas present. The friend is quite religious so I cleaned the inside so the finish did not give any problems when using the Pyrography machine. I am happy with the outcome just hope it is what is needed. I have...

It's not only Tesco getting ready for Christmas (other supermarkets are available!!)

Aftrernoon, Just emerged from the workshop. Hasten to add I haven't made all of the pens today - but over a few days! Comments and critiques as always. Most of the woods are easily recognisable - but a few may not be. Wavy click pens - two from bottom Silver Birch and Olive, above that Grass...

    A little advice please

If I want to make a box like this one, what would be the best and easiest way of making the shaped pieces top an bottom? I'm thinking of making cat trees when I get my workshop back :thinks:

Well I can't claim a first dip pen anymore

So here are the first followed by 3 more, top to bottom in order of manufacture, all are in wine barrel Oak from the chateau St Sernin and all smell of wine so the finish is minimal micromesh to 1000 grit and white diamond buffing.

Recycled wine bottle into glass (and fixed a spoon)

I have been experimenting with cutting wine bottles so I can make them into wine glass'. I then turn a simple bottom. These are the first ones of the lathe and no I am not happy with them yet but I can see the potential. Other ideas I have are to make desk lamps and with the bottom of the wine...

    Which way!!

OK quick question....this is for a jnr gent...as can be seen from the picture it obviously has an orientation it looks to be 13mm on the right which would be the middle band and 12mm on the left which is the bottom....but i think that puts the blank upside down...is this just me or should this...

2nd Acrylic AX Euro ball point

This is the second acrylic turning pen I have ever done. Hopefully I have improved on the first one I did the other week, and addressed some of the issues, such as not turning down the nib end enough! I have also added the little 1mm step on the bottom half, and stuck to the thicker bottom half...

    Your thoughts people's

Another day in the shed managed to finish marking out the latest project and do some shaping. I would like your thoughts on the overall idea and especially the bead on the bottom of the bowl section. There is going to be some texturing and piercing as well as colouring but that is for later. The...

Results are through on first castings.

The results of my first casting :- Top one....the first ever... is a gaudy Uranium Orange and Royal Blue multiswirl blank, unfortunately...as mentioned in a previous post... the Royal Blue element of the blank ended up in the dustbin. The orange colour was self mixed from a set of liquid...
