Chestnut burr I have been working on. Stained with spirit stains and a gloss finish the edge is gilded with a chemically treated brass leaf giving the edge a brass copper look some little parts show the natural edge through the guiding adding to the piece.
This is a my first go at a non-beech pen. I actually purchased a walnut blank.
Also my first pen that I am giving as a “proper” gift. My mother-in-laws birthday gift.
There is a moth in France whose caterpillars are devastating the boxwoods all around, it can be got rid of, but many people are just ripping up their hedges and giving me the wood so I have found a use for the thinner branches.

This Yew bowl was turned last week and then given three coats of Danish Oil and then left to dry today I finished it off by giving it a Buff.
It measures 7 1/2" X 3"
Chestnut burr sanded to 400 grit and then coloured with red and yellow water based dyes and finished with Danish oil before giving it a buff. Measures 5 1/2" X 2 1/2"

Bought a few of these click pens from Rizheng a few years ago.
The click mechanism is a real POS. They look nice, but I would'nt even
think of selling one and have doubts about giving one away.
