Quick pic this morning of the Mouse a recent gift from our youngest Daughter the half finished pie acting as I have more to do. Kind regards .:thumbs:
Well the first pen for 2020 and the first for a long time:face::face::face:
I had this kit in my pen draws for ages and the blank is one half of one that I drilled before breaking the other half and the hole was just the right size for this kit as well as being long enough. just shows that not...
Picked this up today. It might be an old un but it ain't half well made. It's an Atlas 10f.
It's still in the back of my motor at the minute need to get some strength around to get it up the shed. I don't think our Aud can even manage this :winking:
My first attempt at a Sirocco and using a blank supplied by Paul from Pen Blanks and Moulds, really happy how it turned and still have half a blank left bonus!!
This one has already been gifted as part of a wedding present.
A bit later than I planned on posting these, as I turned them about two weeks ago from some small blanks made from the leftover resin from a few new slab casts I made for my website! But with last week being half term we decided last minute to go away for a few days, then our daughter has been...
Hi all, was asked to make the alligator jaw bone pen by a friend who then bought one made with the other half of this blank (no picture) so i had to turn the other half...
I have come by some cherry and would like some advice on the best way to cut it for bowls. As you can see from the pictures i have marked the bigger piece with felt tip pen to find the centre. It is a ovalish shape and thought of cutting it in half along the grain, then in half again half way...
I gave a 1000 dollar bench saw to a smallish mens shed,a beaut 5 feet cylinder compressor,a special micrometer set up for a router bench, A solid bearing press etc. Four guys came over and did the heavy lifting. I had taken off the 3 phase motor on the saw, They found a single phase and...
Just an update on the half track build as it is not yet complete I thought I would just pop it here so you can see what stage it is at as of today. Also of a jerry can for the side
Well half good and half bad day.
Thought I would turn two bowls today all started great remounted the first and returned the foot and outside stopped for a cuppa sat at the computer and it crashed big time.
Spent the day re-booting to factory setting so this took the whole day so while...
What is the best way to protect a pen when sending by post. Is a jiffy bag good enough or are there any tubes available at a decent price. I should hate to send a pen out only to have it snapped in half by poor handling. I would be interested to know what experienced pen turners use to pack...
I could not get ten chisels to look at it, the first half took me an hour and a half. Then in my memory bank I remembered a Dutch Turner at a Turn Around hours from here while everyone did interesting things he made a masterpiece nearly three feet across of the angriest burl you could imagine ...
Hi folks,
hopefully you will be able to help here, this is my latest pen but the black acrylic at the tip has a sheen to half of it, hard to show in the pictures but the camera flash showed it up best. 1 half is jet black and the other has a crazing to it, is it the "iridescence"...
I was turning a piece of Beech and it seemed to want to be a shell so this is how it turned out. I put a glass tube in the top so it could used as a bud vase, I also cut it in half and hollowed out a shallow hole about 2 1/2 inches only (as I wanted the base to heaver so it would be more stable)...
This is the second acrylic turning pen I have ever done. Hopefully I have improved on the first one I did the other week, and addressed some of the issues, such as not turning down the nib end enough! I have also added the little 1mm step on the bottom half, and stuck to the thicker bottom half...
Here are two Click pens.
Vertex Click in Gunmetal ,
Stratus Click in Chrome
Both made using Home Bargains Bamboo chopping board.
The vertex has a much more solid feel & Both of these click mechanisms are not half as good as the 30 caliber click.
We had water streaming down the inside of the window in my Granddaughter's bedroom and water pooling in the bowl type lampshade in the toilet room so much that it overflowed onto the floor, at least we knew then that water was the cause of the light fitting buzzing away merrily. The roofer...
I was asked to design a pen for someone who loves anodising and also lots of chrome.
I anodised the top half for the aluminium lid blue, and chrome plated the lower half. The body is simply anodised.
I made a custom finial and centreband to set the piece off.
Thanks for looking
I brought this many years ago and have never used it. If it is any use to anyone I would be happy to exchange for a Mistral fountain pen kit or a few Omegas.
They appear to be around £40 new so works out about half price. I will cover the carriage cost which is a pain as it is around 68 cm...
