I know with sandpaper that many different types are available, some are a lot better than other. Is it the same with abrasive mesh? I have found 6m x 25mm for different prices ranging from £17+vat Turners Mesh Sanding Pack Grit Abrasive Sandpaper upto £30+postage Axminster Abrasive Mesh Strip...

I was watching a few clips on You Tube and see some people use soap and water when wet sanding with micro mesh. Does anyone else use soap ? Is there a benefit in using it ? What soap do you use ?

Here are todays efforts dark coloured blank from Pen Moulds and Blanks and the yellow blank from else where but I can't remember. Only difference with these after sanding with micro mesh to 12000 I applied a coat of Microcrystalline wax, then buffed with a soft cloth.

Managed to get in the shed again, happy with the result using a fancy slimline from penkitzandbitz. Tried wet and dry then micro mesh and though not perfect I think it's better than my first attempt.

Turned this earlier today. Used a friction polish followed by micro mesh. Ended up with a super smooth finish.

A gunmetal Sigma Duo. Made using a Conway Stewart acrylic blank Finished with micro mesh and T Cut

I used Opti cast resin and Alumilite colours. I Didn't use micro mesh on this kit. Sanded to 1200 and then finished with the two mops. I do like this kit. Pen kit - YouTube
