This has probably been discussed but since I am not very good at forum searches thought it best to just ask.
When you assemble twist pens that have a grain pattern that you are trying to match between the top & bottom sections of the pen how do you align the 2 parts? With the nib out as the pen...
I just wanted to show my latest cellulose acetate fountain pen.
It´s made of cellulose acetate with red acrylic trims and a nickel silver ring on the section,
c/c fill, clipless, three-start 14mm thread barrel to cap.
Slightly tapered on barrel and cap.

Just made this one a Fiona slimline love it a much better kit than the slimline and he same price it is slightly fatter than the slimline nib end 9mm centre and cap 10mm with a superior clip from Paul at Turnershop.co.uk
I obtained a number of large cartridges from an Australian Manufacturer. The fountain pen insert has a fine nib ,my preference. It unscrews to fill the ink cartridge. Fun being back making after quite a spell.
My latest custom fountain pen. I keep trying to get into making more of these but struggle to have enough time to do them.
Tried to get this one with the smallest dimensions on the cap just to see how much I can change things around.
Size 6 Bock nib - 137mm overall capped, 132mm uncapped and...
Hi all
My first ever venture with celluloid, (cellulose nitrate). I’ve made many pens with the similar, but less combustible, cellulose acetate and I must say the cutting and finishing experience is much the same. I’ve heard some people say they can tell the difference by the feel of the...
Hiya folks,
Here's the Wifes Xmas pressie,a Mistral rb in Olive and a Leveche fp in Yew.The spare nib is a Bock 1.1mm caligraphy nib. Also some ink for her to play with.C&c's welcome.
A little while ago I was gifted a Gold Bock no8 nib. I kept it to one side for a while as I wasn't sure I liked the idea of a nib that size, but a couple of weeks ago I decided to make myself a pen for it.
I made a slightly wider pen than I usually do, meaning 14mm cap threads (instead of my...
I made this one for myself. I had made one previously and was going to add a clip to it but forgot and glued the cap finial in by mistake.
So this is version 2 (with clip). I used vintage black cellulose and complimented it with a modern deep red cellulose.
It has a Bock style nib (same...
My new favourite wood (until the next one I make). Kingwood and cellulose acetate.
This is the first pen I have made where the cap is fully sleeved. What I mean is that inside the cap is an entire lining made from the cellulose, forming a complete barrier between the wood and the nib, like the...
Mistral ballpoint in jet black acrylic, man that stuff is hard to work. So I had a few issues, firstly the acrylic bubbled and tore away at the thinnest part on the nib end, I had to take the nib section barrel to the disc sander and take about 3/8" off, this then meant I had to take the same...
Hi guys, really like this kit, looks and feels premium. First time I've used it and the upgrade nib. I had to assemble the nib section myself and I can see it needs to go in further, what's the best way to push it in without damaging it?
Cheers
Dougie
I sent a friend in Brisbane a package of Brown Mallee Burl. This pen was made by Stephen Just, it is bespoke to the nib,a superior no 6 that I prefer.
It is neat to make friends with such skills.
Kind regards Peter.
Here's number 8 in my journey of lockdown learning a new hobby.
This is in Ice Kirinite, Bock number 6 rose gold nib ( I bought 5 to start with so they are all going to be like this until a new order comes in! )
Its the first time I have attempted to fit some "furniture" to a pen, making these...
