Loving how this Ares has come out.
Wenge turned to shape and sanded, then used a wire brush to open the grain.
Sprayed with white paint and then sanded again before adding melamine finish.
Hi all
Had some Elm left so made a Sierra out of it. Figure is not outstanding but I think it turned (no pun intended) out reasonably well.

This is the one I've been working on this week. Doesn't look like most of a work week to you? The pen only took about six hours. The metal work took about three days. (In all fairness, that time includes making a couple of the parts twice because sometimes I do foolish things. The learning...
Hi all
Another Burr Elm but this time I tried to lighten the wood slightly so the figure better. The wallet is empty though except for the bus pass.
I am going to try some Burr Oak next week, see how that comes out. Burr is very appropriate as it's freezing in the workshop.
Cheers etc,

When I started turning a colleague of mine said he liked one of my pens, so I made him a couple. He is a very religious soul and does some amazing work with the less fortunate. He is a street Pastor most nights, making sure the homeless are safe. He puts up with so much abuse but still he...
I am new to this forum and new to pen making. I have completed these in the last week. I have made the polymer clay canes myself except for the pink one which I have decorated with nail art poly slices. My hubby has bought me a mini lathe as an early Christmas present:love_it: So I have...
I cast a couple of blanks last night which I made extra chunky. Reason being I could have another go at a Jr Gentleman's fountain pen and have plenty of resin to drill out those big tube holes.
Here's the result. I have to admit the photo's don't do the blank any justice but then I am a...
