This pen is dressed in Conway Stewart black acetate with gold coloured wire.

1st Pen is dressed in padauk. 2nd & 3rd pens dressed in olive.

First turnings since March 2020. The first two blanks were kindly donated by David Shepherdson so I don’t know what the timbers are. The next two blanks are xcut Oak. The next blank is cocobolo donated by Mike Wilson. The last blank is unknown timber.

So this is my first attempt at casting my own blank. Alan Morrison kindly sent me a casting mould he hadn't used for free which spurred me on to give it a go. Unhappy with bought glitter blanks, I made my own and I'm very very pleased with the result.

In a bit of purple patch and enjoying turning out one every couple of days. I'm afraid there are a few technical issues here - finishing, cap threading and photography - but not especially fussed - I think I know where the problems lie and will work them out sooner or later. Not sure what wood...

New pen finished last night. Tried to get the combination of wood and ‘synthetic’ right and think the kirinite works well with the elm. Had a few problems with lacquering the wood so will need to go back and revisit that but pretty happy with this one. An critique would be most welcome.
