Hi Guys,
For a few years, I have been using polyester resin from M B Fibreglass, their water clear stuff, but they have been out of stock for months. I found another supplier and tried theirs, but it is not as easy to turn as it sets very brittle. I don't know if M B will ever get it back in...
possibly, not seen anything like it but im sure someone has thought of it before..

Morning Casters
This post is aimed at those of you on here who have obtained the Holy Grail and managed to encapsulate pictures and images inside resin to use as pen blanks.
I had a go last week using Scirocco tubes, Glass Cast 50 resin and a Colour laser printer. I printed the image onto...
Is there a difference between resin and acrylic?
Is one more brittle than the other? (I suspect that is the case)
Do we treat them the same whilst drilling and turning them?
Finally is it easy/possible to see the difference between acrylic and resin blanks just by looking at them? (Apart from...
Thought I would show off some of my amateurish work. The resin blanks I made myself, the red one had an air hole appear when I turned it down, so I cut the blank back on the tube and added an African Blackwood slice and turned it back down. Maybe not ideal but I guess it sort of salvaged a pen...
So I've been casting pen blanks for a while now and last week my kids wanted to get involved. They each have a colour of preference so I thought perhaps this would be a quick and easy pour. Nope!
Once they found my stash of pigments and worked out how to use the scales to divvy up resin unto...
I know what the Kit is but I have no idea what the sleeve is made out of, Unless that is a type of resin is called "Blunt your chisels bloomin quick" :whistling:
Thought I would share an old photo of a few surfboards and sailboards I made years ago. I have seen a few discussions on pen finish in the forum especially resins, CA etc. I have worked with different resins and finishes all of my life and seen many professional mess ups for sure. The boards in...
Turned this 10” bowl and set the 7.62 cases in this morning now the long wait for the resin to dry then remove the inside just hope it don’t move to much lol
So I posted my first bowl - I think ok, and my second effort - somewhat flawed, well here is the third...
This is not quite a plate or a bowl really, it's what I'd call a nick nacks tray... you walk in and dump keys and money from your pockets on it.....
It has an unexpected resin centre....I...

Yes, I know. If you've just fallen over with the shock, I quite understand why. Back in the day I was making perhaps 7 or 8 pens a day, but I haven't had time to do one for over two years.
Here it is. It's chrome Beaufort Headwind (no surprise there) in a resin cast carbon fibre blank.
I recently thought I would invest in a bit of new "technology" to help me make blanks with inclusions, particularly watch parts pens. I'm referring to UV cured resin, which seemed ideal for fixing the parts to the tube. All went well placing the parts, but after casting, the outline of the resin...
Hi everyone,
First post here, so thought I'd show you my latest pen - a Mysterious Skies kit from Taylors Mirfield, with a resin blank from Toonpish Crafts on Instagram.
Hi, Can someone help me out. What I wish to know is. What is the best resin to use that does not require a pressure pot. I do not want to use it in great quantities just enough for some pen blanks.
Thanks
:thumbs::thinks::thinks:
So last year I made a river table for my son and I have quite a lot of resin left over
would I be able to use the resin to make some blanks with out a pressure pot and can you thread polyester
I'm not going to make any blanks until the weather warms up anyway
