Loving how this Ares has come out. Wenge turned to shape and sanded, then used a wire brush to open the grain. Sprayed with white paint and then sanded again before adding melamine finish.

Well turned this today again not a fantastic blank but I turned it a lot faster than my previous ones. Didn't crater as much but still sanded wet from 180 through the wet n dry grades and finished with micro mesh and buffed with blue towel.

We'll back in the shed and turned my second pen. Remembered to trim blanks before starting to turn !! Used a couple of costs of thin CA followed by a few coats of super thin CA and wet sanded for longer came out good I think, even used it for a birthday present!!

This bit was already missing some bark, so I took it all off. The natural looked a bit rough so I sanded it following the original contours. 4" x 3" at the highest point.

Morning folks, anyone on here able and willing to engrave some top barrels for me, they will be from hybrid blanks, idea is to get them sanded to near a finish, get them engraved then finish and assemble. Cheers Freck

This is a bolt action I made with the others, but this one had a longer tube and the nib was woefully nonsticking out enough, I took it apart and sanded the end of the blank unfortunately it could have done with a bit more coming off, but the guy who wanted it to match his Rollerball finds it...

Can any tell me what this wood is Please this is a closer pic of the end after turning a fine cut its not been sanded but it has a beautiful finish

Thanks to everyone who voted for my entry, it really means a lot. It's made from Red Mallee Burl, on an Executive pen kit. The finish is CA, sanded and then buffed with buffing compound.
