spalted

Hi All, My next two, one is Oak from a whisky stave and the other is spalted Walnut and the picture doesn't go anywhere near showing how nice it is...

First time on the lathe for a couple of years. I found a piece of spalted beech and knocked this out. It took a couple of days as the arthritis is getting to me now but it was worth it I think.

Just made these an Empress dressed in Burr Elm and an over & under dressed in African Blackwood & Spalted beech

Made these this morning for an order 2 Walnut fountain pens and a rollerball pen in Spalted wood of some sort lol

A pair of Gold plated FP/RB Gent pens in French Oak wood with a bespoke Spalted beech wood box. This French Oak is lighter in colour than the English Oak I turned. Less figuring as well, grain doesn't show up quite as well. Spalted Beechwood speaks for its self I think.:whistling:

A fountain pen made from my spalted walnut collection and finished with CA. The high gloss is not for everyone, a bit like marmite really, you either love it or you hate it!

Another spalted walnut but so different from the last. You just never know what will appear once you start turning. What you think its going to look like is not always what you end up with!

Had a nice lump of spalted walnut donated to me a while ago and decided to use it at last. Quite like the look on this gunmetal pen.

Hi all, Well pretty much as the title says, this is a spalted Beech fountain but cut diagonally from a plank I bought from Stiles and Bates.....

Made two Aston pen sets for a customer as wedding gifts to a Dutch couple also a fountain pen out of Spalted Beech that had been dyed red and stabilised very dusty to turn

spalted beech finished with CA

Spalted sycamore finished in melamine & microcrystalline wax.

Spalted Beechwood Sierra pen and box. Pen is finished with Melamine Lacquer and box is polished. Wine coloured laser cut foam insert.

A few weeks back Terry Q posted some stabilised spalted maple for sale on here so I gave to a go and it arrived a couple of days ago. Its really lovely stuff and I wish I had asked for more. Anyway thanks Terry, and here is what I made with it. Cheers Ash
