Last one for today :-), Mahogany and Gold "clicky" pen

Didn't get as good a shine on this one. I'm following Phil's Melamine advice, but doing it from memory so I suspect I missed a step or two. Will read it again and make bullet points of each step and hang it on the wall behind my lathe :-)

    High gripper

I tend to make my pens with a smooth barrel, in other words having no step between the section/cap threads and the rest of the pen. It is a personal preference I have for holding the pen further up the barrel and sometimes the step present on many pens is a little bit in the way. This quirk of...

    Friends

As the bus stopped and it was her turn to get on, she became aware that her skirt was too tight to allow her leg to come up to the height of the first step of the bus. Slightly embarrassed and with a quick smile to the bus driver, she reached behind her to unzip her skirt a little, thinking that...

    Pink conkerberry

FRom the wilds of the Northern Territory Conkerberry is getting very hard to find. It grows as a bush covered in thorns with others making it difficult to harvest. My mate who gathered some for me ages ago described the event as Bloody. Cutting the buttand dragging it out involves keeping an eye...

    The 3 Wise Men

I have been busy lately on this Kathy Wise pattern for a friend. I have the fronts cut, shaped and sanded ready to be stained. Next step is cutting the backs in the same manner and creating a 3d sculpture type set of standing figures.

    One Step Further

After my success with Golfers Pens I though I would take the subject one step further with this pen. It's a slimline called TIGER WOOD pen, yes the wood is Tiger. Glen:winking:

    Pen box

Made this to enter the pen box competition on IAP but I missed the deadline. Made of Poplar (it's a prototype) based on a scaled up .50 caliber round. Step drilled 5/8 and 1 1/8. It's made for the bolt action. No finish just Beall buffed.

    It's a new beginning.

I have decided to step down from running the competitions and being a moderator. I have had great fun running the competitions, but it is time for new blood, Phil will step up for the December Competition and if I feel well enough I may even enter it. Thanks to Jim for giving me the chance to...

As some of you know i have only done a couple of craft fairs. The first is best forgotten, the second was pretty good. I have a lot of people asking questions about pen making. So i thought i would make a small video of the process step by step. Obviously it is much abbreviated, 16 mins in...
