I am just wondering if there are any easy woods for first a attempt at pen making, I have seen some zebrano but the read it was quite hard to turn so it got me thinking what wood would be easy to start but still look nice and not to bland?!
I noticed on the PSI site that they sell stabilised wood blanks and they are more expensive than the normal blanks, questions are
1- is stabilized wood nessesary for finished pen turning
2- how do I stabilise my own wood blanks ( teak garden furniture) that has been outside for years

Yesterday I posted 2 Tiger wood Pens. I am thinking of trying to turn wood cut on the cross especially Tiger wood if I can get some.

Any one made rolling pins if so what diameter is best or will it be a case of going down to the local shop that sells them and measuring. I am thinking of doing I believe to be the French style where the ends tape and also the traditional ones used here
