Hi Guys
Does any one know what the thread sizes are for the Pratchet nib section and the Click section.
I bought a number of these kits when they first came to market. I have made up a number of them only to find I can not screw the nib section on or I can not screw the click part in.
I have at...

Sorry if this has been asked before. I have trawled previous post but have not been able to find an answer.
For some reason, the cap thread on a recent kitless pen is lose for the corresponding cut barrel thread. It does not screw on, rather it just slips on.
I have CA glued the Cap, tapped...
Thanks for all the comments on an earlier pen.
I was half way through making this one, so some of the feedback has been incorporated, some hasn’t but will be on the next one
So - thread shortened, nib sunk further into the section. There is still the cut behind the barrel thread, I’ve tried to...
Morning all so two weeks ago I started to make a pen from a burl, and I was happy to say it was working out really well but then the unthinkable happened, the cap thread snaped my fault I turned it far to thin. It must have been a loss of concentration, so I left in in the kitchen for a week or...
I was doing some research over the weekend for a thread cutting system as I do find threading wood and some times Acrylic a bit of a hit and miss affair when using a tap and die.
So The research lead me to Simon Hope thread cutting system. But before I buy (birthday, in June) I would like to...
Good afternoon all
I'm having a bit of trouble with my threading Acrylic pen blanks.
Size 14mm cap and barrel thread
So I drill with a 12mm drill first to the full depth required to accept the Nib and external thread of Barrel then I drill with a 13mm drill to the depth required for...
I nice piece of Mallee burr from Phil to make this one. Size 5 Bock nib.
I went with a 12mm cap thread on this one to give it a go with 10mm section thread.
I will be going for a slimmer version next time as my confidence grows.
Not sure whether this point/ question deserves a thread but:
My dad who was a mechanical engineer by trade always said to me, "get the best tools that you can afford". Me, as a sales person, didn't really pay it much attention. I brought a cheap tap and die set and have been 'blowing' the...
Hi All,
I'm both new to this forum and Pen turning. I've been lathing exactly 1 year, pen making for 6 months and kitless pen making for 1 month (so apologies for missed etiquette)
First kitless pen below
Question: The general view seems to be that it is not easy/ possible to...
Hi does anyone know what the thread size is that's used for the standard mechanisms?. I bought a pen kit turned the blank assembled the pen only to find the thread has not been cut to take the mechanism. Before I dismantle the pen. (It's for a customer) I thought if I new the thread size I could...
This cartridge is 31/2 inches long designed for maximum collateral.
The ink mech is screwed into a receiving thread in the shell. Quite light it writes easily and pleasant to hold.
