Hi all,
Relatively new turner just 6 months into my turning journey. Have done both wooden and acrylic pens, slimline through to fountain pens and really enjoy doing them. Just wish you didn't have to faff about gluing tubes in things. Next step is to try an aluminium pen - have the blanks...
I have been out of pen turning for a couple or so years. I decided the other day to turn some more as i enjoyed making them.
I had some pen kits called Slimline 7mm pens, they are pretty basic but a good startup again. I glue the tubes into the wood but unfortunately the glue must have been to...
What a Waste,
And I am not referring to the Ian Dury and the Blockheads song that I can no longer get out of my head
12 yes 12 blanks ruined today, what makes it worse is that 9 of them (6 acrylic) I ruined whilst trying to drill the wrong size hole :rolling:
For the classic Elegant...
I was ask on the last set of these why are the tubes stepped it’s for several reasons one because both halves tapper two because on most modern kits the tubes are shorter and the finial is thinner and hollow to accommodate the refills this kit the business end tube is longer and takes the whole...
Hi all,
Another George Watkins blank, this time on a Mistral...
(those that don't know if you tube up a blank with Levech tubes it also works with the Mistral FPs and vice versa)
Hi members
Does anyone have any info on Regency Pen kits - originally sold by Craft Supplies? The instructions that came with them were very basic, and now years later, I am trying to finish off a couple of kits and find some peices missing! Where can I get spare parts such as the brass tubes...
Morning all,
Any one know where I can get five sets of Atrax FP/RB tubes? Turners retreat are diseased and non operational at the moment, shut by the virus. I ordered some from them but only one of the tubes turned up, the cap tube, I'm after the body tube and cant get hold of TR to tell them...
I have just made my first Sagiters pen and there is a problem. The refill tip does not retract fully and when extended, it protrudes too far. I have made sure I have assembled the kit correctly, and I definitely have not removed too much when sanding the barrel square. I had bought two of these...
Hi Guys
I bought a long length of 27/64 tube along with a couple of other sizes to replace tubes that went wrong due to blowouts etc.
Anyway, I had a couple of sirocco kits to makeup but no tubes so I cut the correct length off my long piece of 27/64 and glued them up, etc. I turned the blanks...
I haven't posted a pen in ages as I don't make that many but, I bought some cheap dice off fleabay for a clock project and deemed them too small for what I wanted. So, my wife casually said "make a pen out of them" which got me thinking. Not a lot of turning mind you but I did have to shorten...
Hope you all had a good Christmas.
A few months ago I turned the bodies for a couple of Empress kits. It was my first time trying to use x cut blanks. I had no real issues and put them away to make some other pens that people asked for as gifts. Yesterday I decided to finish the pens and...

Hi guys
I've just started turning pens and am delighted with the few I've completed, all be they simple ones. I've gone and ruined a few blanks, both wood and acrylic, as a part of my learning process. All well and good.
However, I can't for the life of me get the brass tubes to stick in...
Ok, it had to happen eventually and today is the day :thinks:
I have 3 tubes in the pot and have read all of the advice regarding casting and getting the tubes right, what to do, what not to do etc etc
It’s now a waiting game to see what they are like :whistling:
I will update as things progress
