I had my first visit to the Axminster store in Cardiff last week. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Nice to meet such friendly and knowledgable staff and I have also bagged myself a two hour bowl turning lesson so I am very pleased with that indeed.

As I was in London on holiday this week I was able to visit the Wizardry in Wood exhibition. There were some stunning pieces there. Had a chat with a penturner, Mr. Ron Caddy. He had some really lovely pens on display. There was an interesting demonstration by 2 people turning bowls on pole...
Turned from a piece of Chestnut burr and finished with Danish oil and a coat of woodwax22. This has been the first piece after my hospital visit and boy did it feel good to be back turning.

Taking out a strong folding table to work on I discovered this pair have taken up residence. Despite my moving around they stayed. I have taught a couple of Possums to drive after about 20 miles they failed the test, had to practice somewhere else. I have at least ten sheds so I visit this one...
I sold 3 pens in Australia this morning! I had sent a pen to my granddaughter, and one of her workmates saw it and eventually ordered 3 Chiyogami pens by email. As my wife and I were going to visit my daughter's family, I arranged to meet up and hand over the goods. She must have been impressed...
Every year here we have Fathers Day in the first week of September and my birthday often coincides. Just got a Skype call from Mark and his wife they are coming to visit tomorrow so far they have travelled 2000 miles with 8 hours to go tomorrow. Looking forward to their visit.
