Mrs Bob comes to the workshop but only to the door and usually with a mug of coffee and a cackie  the reason she does not enter is because I deliberately leave wood shavings and saw dust about the place 43 years of married bliss has taught me many things.  As for the lathe I am just a beginner and can not give advice but can suggest you build your own stand as it will be more sturdy and if built as an A frame will carry more weight and have more surface area as a footprint on the floor. I built mine with 3x2 timber held it together with the help of a pocket hole jig screws and wood glue all angles for cuts where done at 10 deg on a Metabo chop saw you can see a bit of it here:-
