Don't normally do fountains, but this was a commission.
Won't make any money on this one as I had to buy the drills and bushings, but I gained the experience and have the kit, in the unlikely event someone else wants one:rolling:

Walnut? Looks very good, finished well too.

I find Barons and JR Gents sell pretty well, still remain cheap but have more 'class' over the usual slimline.

Sorry meant to say, rippled Walnut.
The sort of 3d affect that you get from the grain, doesn't really show in the picture

Thanks guys.
Difficult thing to sell around here, which is why I normally stick to slimlines and streamlines.
This is the first time I have been asked for a fountain for 9 years!
There is a bloke, based in York, who imports his own kits and has flooded the market with tat. He sells a finished Sierra for £5.00!
Fountains and rollerballs go for £15 to £20.

Can't compete with that, regardless of quality.

Thats a super looking pen Neil, there is always a touch of class about a fountain pen and you've certainly added to it with some lovely wood which has been turned perfectly.

Neil, very nice pen. nice choice of wood and well finished. i could see it on the desk of an accountant (excluding turf accountants) or the senior partner of a law firm. i'm new to fountain pens so it's nice to see what people are turning. i've just put in an order to timberbits for a baron and a sedona. i'm looking forward to turning them and will be well pleased if I can get a result as good as yours. andrew

Same problem just down the road from you Neil, Slimlines are by far my best sellers .. :rolling:
Feel free to drop in Jim, if you are up this way, Terry also is pretty near, and is welcome to drop in, though I am led to believe that a chaperone, cctv, anti climb paint, and DNA fingerprinting, are a must if Terry is visiting!

well that a bit different to my customers who don't think twice about paying £35-£50 for a single and a set in one of Davids box up to about £125
