Two more of Davids pen blanks 1/ dolphin in Beech looks like walnut this blank fad developed a split the full length and over half way through but I still had to give it a go so super glue and some sawdust the second photo shows the repair and there is a bit of it in the first photo was it worth it I think so n the wood it looks like a mark in the wood

This one has a shark on it which seems to have a crack towards the tail but still looks good a minor detail which I'm sure David will have sort out by the time he dose the next batch thank you David these blanks would have cost a fortune from a retailer

Woody, I'm sorry you had hassles with these blanks. The Ash blank was cut from a log with some significant checking. I tried to avoid it but there was most likely a hairline crack I missed. The shark problem is obvious to me when I look at your photo but I missed it when I cut the plugs. The grain runs top to bottom when it should run nose-to-tail, so the plug cracked as I tapped it into the blank. Sorry again - it was a momentary lapse in concentration.

I'm not complaining David none of it was a problem in fact the split in the wood has added to the charastor of the wood
