Hiya Im just wondering if anyone has seen something like this Live Tailstock Chuck Adapter: 1 in. x 8tpi - #2MT Shaft at Penn State Industries in the uk for sale but not a live center, I nead it dead.
The reason why is at some point to save space not getting a metal lathe I want to use my wood lathe for machining small parts like bushings caps and other small stuff for projects.
The dead center for the tailstock would come in handy for mounting a metal turning chuck to the tailstock to hold flat bar for drilling with a jacobs chuck in the headstock ( for holes not central on the bar for example making chisels to mount carbide cutters on the end. ( yes I have heard of a pillar drill ? ) but the one I have is a joke, bogs down drilling 4mm wickes mild steel flat bar with a good bit and oil, its not accurate and it rattles like an asthmatic pit pony.
