I tried at least one thing different on each of them (only way to learn). Bottom one is made of Rhino acrylic and I thought it would give me problems because everyone says it is hard stuff, but I got lucky and didn't have issues. The one in the middle i tried TBC for the first time and i rather enjoyed it. The last one I used a square radius carbide tip instead of the round one I have been using and it took me a while to get used to it. Sorry for the crappy photo and the showing tubes. I will be painting the blanks from now on. All three are the Nexus kit from Crooked Mill.

If it helps, I use the square carbide tool for taking the square edges off and then switch to the round one when those have been removed. I don't like using the square tool for the whole process.
You may find otherwise, but do whatever you are comfortable with.
Nice pens!!

A trio of nice shaped pens. You may find it better to paint the hole not the tube, a Q tip and acrylic paint or nail varnish will work. Painting the hole stops the glue showing through on these translucent blanks, just let the paint dry first....

I didn't care for the square cutter either but felt my round one was getting dull so I gave it a break =). I have round inserts and a diamond sharpening stone on the way.

They look good, I have followed those that advise to paint the acrylic and not the tube and it does make a big difference, no more visible tubes or glue.

I will be doing this from now on. I have 2 blanks with tubes already glued and no paint =( hopefully they don't show too much.
