Ok I know I am novice but what is all this back to basics lark?
In my short experience I have found the Slimline to be the hardest of all kits I have done.
They are the most adaptable, the most challenging and the most bloody fiddly of all kits, I find nothing basic about them at all.
These are a fair attempt at a "basic" kit but I think you may have worn your bushes out as the centre band looks proud and the cap finial is to large.
Could be the angle of the picture or my eyes are failing, I have done a couple of pictures myself like that, the camera picks up what I am sure is not there.

Back to basics is a term used, although it may be the wrong one but we mean going back to the first penkits that we started making.

Thanks for explaining that young Mervin did have a feeling that some snobbery was creeping into the forum.
Good job I started on the Roman Harvest, Jnr Gent and Majestic then because they are easy compared to the basics.
Maybe one day when I get to grips with the technicalities of the Slimline I should like to go back where I started.
