I have done 3 more tonight. Believe it or not all spalted beech. I have mixed feelings about the quality of my finishing. My yet redo.

All looking good Dan, maybe the first one has the blank on the wrong way round, the taper runs down from the nib end, turning it around should help ..

Very nice Dan, have a go at turning the whole thing an 1/8th wider than the bushes and then just turning the ends in which will alleviate any undercut

Choosing the shoulder height I try sometimes to keep the grain strong and turn over size as Paul suggests, determining the height coming to a rolled shoulder becomes personal preference mostly I choose levelish then rolled over but with this pen style kit its a an interesting compromise with the shape of the bottom of the top and the top of the bottom mostly taken care of when together where this pen kit looks best IMHO Like the pens Dan however. Thanks for showing.
