HI all, I like my bullet case pens, these are. 338 Lapua magnum the current Army long distance rifle caliber, fitted to Omega pen kits. I have done easier conversions, but hey you have to try everything once

Hi All,
Firstly i cannot take full credit for these, i saw Woody had done these first, i stole the idea
Ok, i used an Omega kit, a bit of masking tape and nothing else,( other than turning tools)
I drilled the primmer pocket out on one case to accept the Omega body tube i mounted this in a four jaw chuck, measured the tube against the case and trimmed to length with a parting tool, if done correct the tube is fractionally too big to push through the case but the Omega fitting will fit through the hole.
Next was the hard bit, the cap tube and boy do they take some drilling,i stepped up a size each go from 10mm, again measure the tube against the case and trim with a parting tool. I used a few wraps of tape around one end of the tube until it was a good fit in the case mouth. i did think about turning a scrap piece of wood to fit but it may be over thinking.
I then mounted the cases on my mandrel with cone bushes to polish them, just steel wool followed by liquid polish.
Assembly was straight forward as i just push fitted everything, "BUT" fit the cap joiner first, before the clip so you can line everything up!, again if done correctly the fittings push hard against the cases and stop things spinning.
I dont like using glue with metal cases and push fit fittings, as i drill tight holes the fittings can slightly swell the tubes and create tremendous pressures, i have snapped a few fittings this way, but without glue they seem a good frictional fit.
I hope this helps those that wish to try, good luck drilling the cap tubes
