A friend who fishes Blagdon and Chew Lakes is always asking if I want any fish, so this is for him

As a trout fisherman (occasionally these days) I absolutely love that but would have prefered just game fish.

Any fisherman would be pleased to own that pen. :itscool:

Its a set of stamps Bob. The fishing for pike now brings in as much money as for trout though and is quite big business here although I only ever fish for trout when I can be bothered to go. If you ever fancy coming down for a bit of fishing, you'd be welcome to stay here.

I used to love fishing, course and sea fishing, don't done none for years.
Not since my boys got all my tackle nicked for me, never did replace it.
I was the sort of fisherman everyone hated, much like the Pols today, what I catch ain't going back in unless it's on a hook for something bigger.
I wanna see what it tastes like, probably just as well I don't go init?

Philistine Brian.:funny::funny: I only keep trout and the odd salmon or sea trout. Throw back any wild trout and keep only stockies for the table.

Many thanks for the offer, much appreciated.
You're a bit far away from me though and I'm not sure fishing the big reservoirs suit me, I prefer small lakes and better still rivers where I can fish dry fly.
I have the river Coquet a few minutes away which carries only brown trout and a few escaped rainbows apart from the tidal stretch, very hard fished but gets some good runs of sea trout and salmon as well.

Some years ago I worked on Malting's up in Bridlington, Grimsby and Imingham, they used to breed fish for the table in their water tanks.
I was told they were only trout but when I got the opportunity to look, they had perch and carp in there to.
Lovely clean fish no earthy taste to them, I did bag me a few on a poachers line and took em back to me digs.
Good ol days when the world was still black and white.
