Having bought a starter pack of four of their new music pens from Penn State Industries, I have just completed the first two of them. While I think I like them, they are heavy for a ballpoint - similar in size to a Gentlemen's fountain pen. They might have looked better and felt more comfortable in the hand if they had been a bit slimmer. The darker one is sapele with pewter plating; the lighter one is English marbled boxwood with gold plating. The marbling on the blank was more pronounced and interesting before I started turning it, but the nice figuring was turned away. :frown-new:

Not my kinda thing but I do feel for ya with the figure losing, ya never know what your gonna get with wood, that's part of the appeal for me.
I can't count how many times it has happened to me and rarely the other way round but it happened today with a bit of Paul M's Thatchers apple, looked pretty bland and endied quite figured and very nice in my opinion.

Two overlaid pens the first one is impressive in Sapele and I feel your pain with the second one oh so much promise however it lets the hardware run rampant and since it is so dominant it succeeds.
