Correction Waddy Wood AKA Acacia Peuce one of the rarest of Australian timbers ,Dead Finish found only in extreme conditions the name from the early explorers about this stage all is lost or finished.

I do have Iron Bark it is another tough heavy timber,I have some in log form great weight lifting exercise,dense dark timber. Years ago on this forum I bought a collection of two hundred different blanks of Australian Timbers ,he welched on the deal and left me far less trusting than before,it will not happen again.

G'Day Peter. I noticed the Prickly Pear Blank from Curtis. I'll encourage you to play with it as it presents a very interesting result. I turned one of those blanks last year for two pens but used two different back paints, yellow and black. I preferred the black, but the yellow was still nice.

In the blank room yesterday I figured I could display 10 to twenty or more such blanks but they weigh some,are bulky and create such yearning to get going I declined.Then there are the twelve sheds of solids and burl pieces etc. (Did I mention about being a serious collector).Two Australian Cedar pieces stamped in the 1890,s when they served as Church Pews in Goulburn NSW.Beautiful timber.

Was thinking about this as well,one of my long time heroes Cutis I think of him as an absolute gentleman and special contributer. I remember his new home he buily forever ago and just how meticulous it was being built,he showed progress reports so clear you felt as if you were there on the IAP.
