Two very nice bowls the only thing that I personally would have done is turn the tenon away

Hello Derek,

Totally agree and thanks for the very valid comment. When I have made the wood jaws, I will do that.
Must hold the camera the other way up as well.

Cheers

I’ve used a variety of different tools for turning the foot and without doubt the best I’ve found is a Donut chuck. It took me a couple of hours work and some decent ply but it was well worth it.

That is one good idea. I would imagine that this method of securing the bowl is much better than button jaws, I like the idea. Very clever.
I have just bought some wood plate jaws and ply. Only needed a few square feet of ply, but had to buy a whole 8ft sheet. Still it will come in handy.

Well done Derek

Lovely work Frederick. What is your finish?

Hello Terry,

Good to hear from you and I hope you are well; thanks for the kind words.

The finish is:-

Sanding to 400 grit, celulose sanding sealer with de-nib and buff.

2 x Axminster Micro crystaline wax and buff followed by a coat of Hampshire sheen. I don't think these available in the USA but I feel sure you must have something similar

That Microcrystaline wax is good stuff IMHO. Seems to do the job well.

Hope the pen still works.

Cheers

If you are going to make a doughnut chuck I would suggest getting some of THESE then use them on the front ring this means you will not need to worry about get hit. If you counter sinkthem so the are flush with the wood
