About 18 months ago a good friend and neighbour asked if I would be interested in a Mulberry branch that he'd acquired. Yes of course I would be interested.
He explained that he'd leave it in amongst the weeds etc for a year or so and then we would retrieve and cut it into useful pieces.
Well, the time to collect it arrived a couple of weeks ago. Having arrived at the site I discovered that it wasn't so much a branch as a huge limb which he had already cut into numerous lengths. It took two journeys in his 4x4 to move this wood which he then proceeded to trim down to useable pieces with his chain saw. These are some of the roughcut pieces from that afternoons work.
Then to get them under cover, stacked and to roughly seal the ends (only emulsion available but it helps to do the job)
For scale, I only had a slimline pen on me (included in a couple of images) - but as you will see its a monster pallet of wood that I will need to resaw and be making some rather nice items from in a year or two. (There is also a mountain of offcuts that will be trimmed down when I get time in the next week or two).
But most grateful thanks to my friend Pedro.
