I had a little experiment with an old Sierra kit and much to my surprise they are 1mm fatter that the new ones good job I measure every thing first because I have only got chrome in the new kits olive wood and actylic with a polish finish just a bit of fun I love playing on my lathe but I think the gold band should be a bit thinner

I like that a lot Woody and the picture quality is good too. I like the band as it is.

I think the width depends on several kits where they come from. I've got Sedonas that are different sizes.

If you've enjoyed making it and it fits the bill, then there's nowt wrong with it especially as it's turned and finished to your usual high standards.

Nice experiment.
Good looking pen.
I've had problems with the length
of the tubes. 1/32" difference between the black / gold
and the chrome kits, and it shows when you assemble the pen.

It wasn't the tube it was the outer diameter of the fittings the whole pen is 1mm fatter than the new kits and bushings I got but to be honest I do prefer the pen that bit fatter maybe because it is the round top type and not the executive they were all the same size from T/B at one time and that is the only place I have got mine from and according to his web site both kits take the same code number bushes strange
