Nearly finished a simple sleeping pup for my granddaughter ( not for Christmas ), still rough but just needs a bit of sanding and coat of polish, also a little "wabbit" that's about 75% done..

All for a 6 year old who can't spell exciting. :whistling: She wrote all over my white board a week ago and I'm ashamed to say her handwriting is better than mine.:goesred:

The trouble with carving is that you're never happy and every time you look you see bits that need improvement. These are a couple of the ones I roughed out years ago so saved me a bit of time and I need to remember that they are going to be played with rather than sit on display so they're going to get a bit bashed.
I'll take pics when finished if she doesn't pinch them before I get a chance.

My 92 year old MIL has been in a residential home for about 6 weeks and has decided to stay, don't blame her it's like a 5 star hotel, the only thing missing is a swimming pool and my missus says she's putting her name down now so we're in the middle of sorting out her house to sell and it's depressing how little value todays' kids put on what we view as valuable.

Conversations like this: "Do you want any of your Grans' ornaments or pieces of Edinburgh crystal?" - " Nope they're horrible, wouldn't give them houseroom" - "But they cost £ hundreds each and were your grandparents pride and joy" - "yeah but don't like them just send them to auction". "What about furniture?" - "Nope, don't be silly" - "Photos?" - "Yes but can you scan and email them to me".

That's not just my kids but my 2 nieces as well. I think I'm going to have a huge garage sale and flog off all my treasures before I pop me clogs. :thinks: But not yet! Not yet! :winking:

I wouldn't put money on that Derek, you wanna list?

* Part carved projects, at least a dozen many going back 10 years+
* Walking sticks, been seasoning at least 15 years.
* Part finished marquetry pic of the kids I started after my back operation - that was 32 years ago.

I'm scared to look at any more example. :goesred:

Exactly Mark that's what I said to the missus.

Typical woman though she had to make the point that I've been retired more than 3 years :rolling: 3 years - it's nothing. :whistling:

Looking good Bob. You never know, you might be able to turn your hand to a pen before too long if you practice hard enough:devil:

I need to make one soon Phil. A member of another forum kindly sent me some bog oak blanks and I've promised him a pen.
