I have used the Polyurathane glue as well as CA and also two part epoxy and never had any problems with any of them. Like most things it is a matter of what works for you.

Never heard of the tonkinois varnish but can you apply it with a piece of paper towel which would give it the thinnest of coats, I did forget to say how do you apply it at the moment.
