Is turning slimline pens more difficult than others. They seem so thin at the jointing points. Of course it could simply be my lack of skill.

Morning James,
Turning slimlines are no more difficult than any others. I find very light cuts with very shape gouges are the answer. Practice also helps, the more you do the better outcome.

I have to disagree slightly with Kelvin, yes due to their thinness they can be very brittle, the small diameter can mean they spin a little quicker and to do a slimline well takes more skill than say an Omega or a one body kit like a Sierra....
I agree, sharp tools and light cuts will win out....I often say if you can turn a good slimline you can turn anything:nooidea:
