These were ordered the other day so after chopping up some wood I got them made some bullet cases one in African Blackwood the other in Military ply and the last one in two small pine cones

Do you have an x-ray machine please?
I would like to see inside

just trying to work out where the tubes are in relation to wood etc and length of tubes

too many questions :-)

They are made up from a standard 7mm kit drill through the firing pin insert and glue the tube in the top half is just the other tube the finial part of a shell with a bit filed out for the clip then a wooden plug to fit inside and into the tube going through the clip look at Pauls tuition all the info you will need mine are just a bit different to his http://www.penturners.co.uk/wood-turned-items/2999-7-62-how-i-did.html

Lovely pens Woody, I need to get some of the casings to have a go.

Tell me again though, with pine cones, you told me they have to soaked in water to make them close them flood them with ca? I presume the ca still bonds if the cones are damp?

Love the pine cone, the way the grainy bit smear at the ends.

In fact they're all good.

It suprises me how good humble plywood can look.

All 3 are great, but that Pine Cone steals the show, I am always amazed how good they look, like some expensive burr:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

The single blank is the way to go Steve, I make mine from a single now as it looks a lot better without the join.
