My good friend and fellow turner called me the other day and said he had some veneer he bought years ago and would I like it for my pen blanks. Like me he started out making non turned items and was going to use the veneer to dress up the furniture he planned to make. Between then and now the turning bug bit him and the veneer was forgotten. He delivered it this morning on his way to work. I have some left over steel from my tool making days and we are making a trade. He has just saved me hundreds of dollars and I get to clean out a pile of steel.

What do you do with it Terry?
I ask because I still have a sackful of veneers I swapped for some trout 30 years ago, (I used to do marquetry) and had thought of gluing some together at various angle to make a sort of plywood, would that work?
i have an old cast iron letter press which is ideal for clamping up to A4 size panels.

Bob I use the veneer to make this style of pen blank. These are some examples.

What thickness are they, Bob? I'm starting some experiments with creating hardwood ply and might want to take some off your hands! Have a look at this series of videos on Youtube to see how one guy does it.
