Abalone wedding pen

This is a wedding pen for my friend Lauren and her fiance Braydon. She chose the blank and the kit. The kit is a Sierra Elegant Beauty in black titanium and platinum. The blank is paua abalone. Both are from Exotic Blanks. The blank is magnificent, and I'm very happy with how it turned out. Now the question is, can it be laser engraved? I'm afraid there's a possibility that the laser will shine through the clear acrylic and burn the abalone. I'm going to talk to my engraver about it.

I was being too aggressive, as I'm wont to do, and almost ruined it twice. But it all worked out in the end.
