Tried mesh but did not like it, stuck with ordinary sandpaper. 80, 120, 240, 360 and 600 grit, that's all I use. And I don't use the expensive stuff either, just a good material backed sandpaper, "Black spur" is my most used paper.

I used Mirka Abranet - it’s like sandpaper on steroids with in built dust extraction so be careful

It lasts forever and doesn’t clog so I used it on softer woods that my chisel skills would have caused long term issues:rolling:

Maybe expensive in comparison but it isn’t a straight comparison so I still used sandpaper for some jobs and the coloured sanding pads for ca and acrylic finishing.

Horses for courses but I’ve seen many pens that in my opinion are way too fat and Abranet is great for putting them on a diet with little risk of going too far. Pays your money takes your choice :up:

I much prefer rhinogrip Velcro backed abrasive. As to different qualities of mesh, abranet seems to be the favourite.

I prefer Abranet to the Axi version. I find it lasts longer and is easier to use. I tend to cut strips from an Abranet pad. For larger work I use rhino grip wet sanding but find Abranet excellent for pens and the like. I found the Axi version much harder and scratchy rather than clean sanding.

I have some Abranet and like it.
When I bought a Simon Hope inertia sander the local supplier added about 6 strips of the stuff he imports.
Brand is HG. Works fine for the sander . Made 2 bell punches to cut the strips into discs.
Overall I think Abranet is better. The backing seems to grab better.
Still use Klingspor sandpaper as well.

Depending on the job in hand I use the stuff from chestnut products. I find it ideal as the sawdust passes through the mesh so does not clog up(don't use it on wet wood as that can clog it just as fast as standard sandpaper
