Hi all
This might be a silly question, but the motor in my lathe is an 550w ac motor with vs can this motor be changed to 550w dc motor also for a vs lathe (lathes look the same with same spec but different badges) and will it work. All the fitting holes etc are the same except this Ac - Dc thing?
looked around for a motor and can not find one without paying over £160 for it.
P.S. I only turn for fun and the family it keeps me out of the house (not to give me some peace and quiet).

Regards for any answers.

I think the simple answer is yes, but......... :thinks:

How is it been controlled, somewhere, somehow your supply voltage is changed from 240 ac volts to 550 ac volts you want 550 dc volts, its all down to the little box of tricks :thinks:

That's the answer you would either need a ac to dc converter or swap the controllers with the motors keeping the ac with ac and dc with the dc.
