I had a tiny lathe like yours many years ago show us a pic of yours close up I may have some solutions I made my own Mandrel saver for my Taig lathes easily using Brass I can dig up pics etc I then fine drilled the mandrel saver to suit the mandrel in use I used a small end mill kicked at an angle as a boring tool for accuracy.


Next step IMHO is a bigger lathe with 2 morse taper both ends for progress.
