Hello Colin welcome to our forum. Why not introduce yourself and tell us a bit about what you make etc. As Ray says, there's loads on-line if you look.

i dont actually do any wood turning ..i use an old myford ml4 metal lathe ...but im on with a project turning acrylics using pen blanks ...im from sheffield but now live in the cotswold and dont realy know the area ...and wondered if there was anywhere local ...as i ordered on line and they let me down (not turned up) and i really wanted to get some thing done this weekend...im in the process of trying to talk the mrs in to letting me have a wood lathe as well and would love to have a go at making some pens ..

I have purchased from a few sellers on Ebay fairly successfully. One guy contacted me saying they wouldn't actually be in for a month, did I want to wait or cancel the order, so I cancelled it. I got some other ones from him though.

Strangely, his auction was still up, he just added £100 to the price to stop people from ordering, I guess that way he avoids a re-list cost (it was one of those multiple item buy it now things)

Hi Colin, I started pen turning the same way. My lathe is an ML7. You can turn pens on your metal lathe, it just takes a bit longer. You can make bits like mandrels and bushings or tool rest. It's great fun!
