They are fine Barry, the depth of cut to the right of the blade is restricted by the motor, they produce a lot of dust that is difficult to extract without a shop built hood & I personally feel there are other machines that can do the same jobs as a radial arm saw better.
That said if you have the room (they do take up a lot of space) & can pick one up at the right price then it's worth getting one, though I'd suggest you get a negative rack blade if you do get one

Barry I like Dougs advice especially with the negative rake blade it means you can then cut Aluminium with ease a decided advantage IMHO. Enjoy.
