advice on painting tubes

I am looking at painting some tubes white to give a better background for resin blanks.
What is the best type of paint to use and do you need to prime?
I predominately use acrylic for model making and hope this would be good enough.
Once painted is it OK to use CA glue to bond blank to tube?

I use acrylic paint for my tubes, some people use CA I refer epoxy.

Acrylic paint is the go, either sprayed or applied with cotton tips. Epoxy glue will mix with colour as well. Heaps of discussions widening the hole to accomodate the paint.

Ok, first things first. If you paint the tube you will still have adhesive between the paint and the inside of the blank so the glue will show through translucent blanks. This can sometimes look as bad as the brass showing through. The best thing to do is paint the inside of the blanks. Acrylic artists' paints or even cheap kids' acrylic paint sets from the pound store will do fine as will spraying up the inside of the tube with rattle cans of car body spray paint.

Once the paint is dry it will be fine with any of the adhesives commonly used for pen tube assembly. Personally I prefer epoxy to CA for acrylic blanks but if you are in a tearing hurry then I suppose CA is OK. The biggest risk is not the glue reacting with the paint but careless insertion of the tube scratching it off.

Acrylic Spray Paint for me, and as Walter says, paint the blanks not the tubes

I’m with Walter on this one too - I spray paint the inside of the tubes and find that epoxy works best for me when gluing

I usually paint the inside of the drilled blank with acrylic paint on a cotton wool bud, never tried the spray cans but may have to give it a go.
