Been asked by a potential client if I could make a pen(s) that relate to sprinkler system. The husband is a sprinkler engineer.

Anyone got any ideas, or is there a pen kit anything like it? I thought about having something cast?

Appreciate any help/advice.

How about this: use a green acrylic with blue speckles (to represent water droplets on a grassy field), turn a clipless pen, and cast a roll-stopper that looks like a garden hose / hose with a sprinkler at the end? Or perhaps cast a clip where the body is a rod, and it ends with a smaller sprinkler shape?

No idea where you would find such an acrylic or how you would get that sort of shape cast. Perhaps get something 3D printed instead of cast? Shapeways can print in metals after all. I don't think you would want a clip made that way as I have no idea if their 3D printed metals have the necessary springiness for that, but it should be fine for a roll-stopper.

Huh, it just occurred to me that I've been working under the assumption that he works on garden sprinklers, when he could in fact work on indoor sprinklers - the kind that go off in a fire. Do you know which it is?

Much more info needed. I used an example of the ceiling sprinkler I was very familiar with on so many buildings in my last job before retiring these things were vital. One task I was assigned was routine testing of fire systems, simulating fire drills. One area in the huge University area flooded the area with CO2,you had four minutes to evacuate the area. Just working on our underground bore at my home and the sprinkler system for our high hedge around the block. You could work wonders with those mini sprinklers. Just to keep fully occupied I was for many years Physical Facilities Rep for our Church properties (voluntary) covering distance and great value,ie cleaning persons, maintenance and purchases, new buildings.

Looks like a serious summer coming up for us here already. Have success with your task,so many ways to achieve your aim. Recently installed for 19.00 AU a temperature sender from my special plant stand outside to the receiver on my kitchen table. I can read the temp and humidity 24/7.

Peter.

I like the idea of a decal cast in acrylic. I'm thinking sierra pen. Just need to work out the size of the rectangle required to adhere it to the tube. Anyone got the calculation handy?

I did try once, I printed a lot of different size on a sheet of paper then cut them out and wrapped them around the blank, and picked the one that fitted the best.
Then printed that size on the decal paper. [emoji108]
